Lucy Whitman and contributors Peggy Fray and Pat Brown at the Unfettering the Imagination conference in September 2010.
A number of events were held to mark the publication of the Telling Tales About Dementia, with readings from the book by the editor and by other contributors, followed by discussion. Events took place at St Anne's Soho, Hornsey Library, City and Hackney Carers Centre and Age Concern Camden's Great Croft Resource Centre, all in London, as well as a presentation at the Dementia Congress in Harrogate in November 2009. Lucy Whitman and some of the contributors have also given presentations at the Haringey Dementia Forum and at the first Haringey Dementia Conference, both in May 2010, and at the tenth birthday celebrations of the Admiral Nurse Service in Haringey in July 2010. Lucy Whitman gave a presentation, along with some of the contributors, on "The transforming power of stories" at the Unfettering the Imagination conference on Psychosocial Interventions in Dementia Care hosted by Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust on 9 September 2010. She also took part, with a different group of contributors, in a conference in Wolverhampton on the theme of Dementia in an Age of Austerity, which was held to mark the launch of Dementia UK West Midlands on 23 November 2010.
